Event venue: University of Wolverhampton - Walsall Campus

Target audience: Newly Qualified Teachers

Event dates: Tue 3rd Oct 17 - Tue 19th Jun 18

Education Central is delighted to offer our NQT training programme. It combines 5 days of high quality training (which can be used as 20 credits towards a masters degree) with 4 in school visits for team teaching, team planning, discussions and reflection. All sessions run 9.15am - 3.15pm and are based at the University of Wolverhampton, Walsall Campus.

Day 1-Ways to stand out as an NQT: Thursday 5th October 2017

Establishing a really purposeful climite for learning is fundamental in giving children the best possible chance of achieving. The first day of the programme supports this and shows how once this climate for learning is established, the high quality questioning and AFL techniques explored on the day, can be maximised.

Day 2-Links in Learning: Thursday 9th November 2017

Clear links in learning and avoiding unnecessary lessons can make a huge difference to children's outcomes over time. A teacher's clear understanding of how children benefit from the opportunity to consolidate and apply new learning is the basis of this day. This approach will be explored across the curriculum and delegates will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues on planning.

Day 3-The journey of learning in English: Thursday 11th January 2018

The teaching of English presents many complexities to the teacher. Being clear about the end of year expectations in reading, writing, grammar, speaking and listening is vital in ensuring purposeful sequences of lessons. Day three of the course explores how to develop vocabulary, reading and writing skills across KS1 and KS2 and also offers the opportunity to reflect on how drama enhances learning experiences.

Day 4-Quality teaching of Maths: Thursday 8th March 2018

Teachers who have a clear understanding of how fluent mathematicians can be supported in reasoning and problem solving, accelerate children's progress. This course allows teachers to reflect on how different mathematicians progress in maths and the very best ways to facilitate effective learning.

Day 5-Next Steps: Thursday 21st June 2018

Teachers have the opportunity to reflect and celebrate their development during their NQT year. They are also encouraged to continue the deep reflection promoted throughout the programme through critiquing high-level pedagogy.
