Whitgreave Junior School - G & T Poetry

Pupils from Whitgreave Junior had a fantastic day out at Bantock House as part of a Gifted and Talented event titled Painting into Poetry. We are pleased to be able to showcase a selection of the wonderful poetry produced. Well done children - looks like a wonderful and challenging learning experience was enjoyed by all.

Bantock House

All the ornaments are sitting there,

Looking glamorous all the time.

Wanting to be used,

However, that would never happen.

All sad, nothing to do,

Waiting and waiting, just for you.

In the glass cases,

Enclosed and alone,

They wish they could roam,

Around on the field,

Meet some friend, have some fun.

Although, all they can do is be bored.

Wanting to be used,

Wanting to be loved.

The warm, crystal copper japaning,

Surrounding the fire,

Walking round the house,

Familiar faces on the wall.

The grandfather clock,

Dust on the floor,

The pendulum dance,

Is good for sure.

Up the stairs,

Creaking loud,

I wish I couldn’t,

Hear a sound.

On my left,

A bedroom of flowers and fields,

On my right,

A nursery, so cute!

Bantock House

Ding! Dong! The clock strikes midday,

A gigantic grandfather clock.

The golden pendulum, swing side to side,

Millions of pictures staring at me.

The horse’s mane as silky as a spider’s web,

Brilliant blue skies, as bright as a diamond shining in the night’s sky.

The landscape, a colossal football pitch,

Horse’s saddle, luxurious and golden,

Ruby red roses, as dark as cherry red,

Sage green grass, like epic emeralds.

The Man Cave

Perfect portraits, as detailed as the Mona Lisa,

Historic pianos bellowing.

Ding! Dong! The clock hits midday with wood work details like Big Ben,

The pendulum waved goodbye, as I trotted away.

Wonderful wooden tables to dine at,

Emerald green snooker table standing tall,

Fluffy, ruby red chairs as a cosy as can be.

The Grandfather clock

The clock is hyper, moving side to side,

The pendulum danced right to left,

Ding! Dong! The clock strikes 12.

Miniature clock, as detailed as Big Ben,

The hands on its face swirl and twirl,

Beautiful songs play, as the pendulum dances.
