How To apply

Education Central is a social enterprise company of the University of Wolverhampton. As an extension of its remit Education Central works collaboratively with Sandwell LA & Wolverhampton SIP's (Connected Partnership) where the NQT Recruitment Pool is a key agenda item of our collaborative approach regionally.

All Primary applications received by the 3rd February 2017 will be considered against the criteria outlined in the person specification which will be presented on the application form.

The current professional duties of a teacher, as outlined in the School Teacher' Pay and Conditions document, again this will be presented on the application form.

Black Country Headteachers will conduct the short listing process.

Two references will be requested for all shortlisted candidates. These will be requested prior to your interview. It is therefore important that you confirm with your referees that you may use their names as a referee. We ask that you provide us with a contact from your university / college as well as a contact from one of your teaching placements.

Each interview will last for approximately 30 minutes. The panels will consist of Headteachers from across the Black Country as well as Local Authority personnel.

The purpose of the interview is to ascertain how your skills, knowledge and experience correspond to the person specification. Interviews are stressful and it is recognised that there are many highly competent individuals who have difficulty in demonstrating their competence at interviews. That is why all our interviewers receive interview skills training. They will make every effort to put you at ease so that you are able to demonstrate your skills, experience and motivation to work in the Black Country.

You will be contacted in writing shortly after your interview to confirm the outcome and to explain the post interview process.

Unless you specify on your application form that you do not wish your details to be circulated to a particular Local Authority, a record of your performance at interview will be circulated to the two Local Authorities within the Black Country. Headteachers with vacancies will then access your details and invite you for an appointment interview.

If you have a disability and need help with completing your application form, this is available from the NQT team. Alternatively you may apply using an audiocassette or by providing a curriculum vita that addresses the key areas covered on the application form.

If you require further information or support with your application, please contact the NQT Team on 01902 518963, or contact us via our website at:

Please ensure that you have your disclosure and barring service DBS at hand when at interview should you be asked to present it. Once appointed it is the school’s responsibility to ensure your DBS is current and valid.

Please note that you are only permitted to apply for the NQT Pool once, if your application has not been successful please do not attempt another application in subsequent years as they will not be considered.

Should you accept a post within or outside the Black Country, either prior to, or following interview, please telephone the NQT Team on 01902 518963 so that your application can be withdrawn from circulation.
It is essential that you notify us if any of your details change, for example, your address or telephone / mobile number.
Good luck with your application.
