A Tudor House
'A square meal', Burning your candle at both ends. 'Night night, sleep tight'. Pupils will discover the origin of these sayings, finding out how they relate to Tudor times and learn about one of the oldest houses in Birmingham. Pupils will be encouraged to build their skills of historical enquiry through discussion and an interactive tour of this fascinating building.
Pupils will explore the rooms used by the Smalbroke family and those used by their servants, handing replica artefacts, learning about Tudor clothes and trying a Tudor dance. Pupils will use Blakesley Hall to learn about the Tudor way of life through experience and to contrast the lives of the wealthy Smalbroke family and their servants. If time allows, pupils may have an opportunity of experiencing a Tudor task of butter making.
Pupils and staff will need to bring a packed lunch and drink.
Please arrive early for registration.
