Count Me In Maths Day
Pupils will visit the Engine Manufacturing centre of Centre of Jaguar Land Rover at i54, Wolverhampton and have the opportunity to utilise and develop their maths skills.
How many processes are involved in engine assembly?
Why is accuracy important?
How do we use data to improve?
Maths skills are critical to all elements of the business at Jaguar Land Rover's Engine Manufacturing Centre. Measuring, calculating, capturing data, analysing data and problem solving are all skills we need in our staff.
Pupils will have the opportunity to engage in a number of practical maths challenges taken from everyday examples and a tour of the factory.
Pens, pencils, hard-backed notebook will be required. Please ensure all pupils have a packed lunch and drink.
Some comments made by pupils and teachers during their visit last year were:
"Fantastically organised, stimulating activities and challenging and motivating tasks."
"Lots of problem solving opportunities, very engaging event and lots of fun for the children."
"I liked doing the measurement experiments because I like a challenge."
"I like working things out so I enjoyed the team challenge."
Please wear appropriate footwear (no heels, wedges or open toe/backs allowed). Please note, there will be a tour of the factory grounds and there will be sudden loud noises from the machinery and robots. To avoid disappointment, please arrive early for registration, the session will start promptly at 9.30am.
