During this inspiring session at Thinktank pupils will extract their own DNA from their cheek cells and precipitate it so that they can see it! They will be able to take it home to remind them of their day learning about the function of DNA and what goes on in our bodies at a microscopic level. The day will include a visit to the amazing planetarium to see the cells based show, time in the laboratory and a visit to the Medicine Matters.
Some comments made by pupils and teachers during their visit last year were:
"Children really enjoyed trying to extract their own DNA and using the scientific equipment to learn about it."
"The opportunity of 'real life' experience of completing a science experiment inside a real science lab with all the science equipment."
"Workshops are pitched appropriately for children but with challenge, enabling children to develop their understanding of genetics."
"Loved the experiments about DNA!"
"The 4D cinema experience was awesome! I actually felt like I was inside somebody's body."
Please ensure all pupils and staff have a packed lunch and drink.
