The sculpture masterclass is for pupils who are passionate about making, modelling and casting in 3D and who enjoy getting messy! Pupils will explore a range of 19th-20th Century sculpture made from different materials and variety of styles; from abstract to representational works, on display in our galleries led by an expert sculptor. Pupils will have a go at building a simple figurative armature from wire in a pose of their choice, followed by modelling a figure, in clay or Modroc, before ending the day by casting their own relief sculpture in plaster-of-Paris.
Some comments made by pupils and teachers during their visit last year were:
"A great range of activities, all practical so all children can take part."
"Children had an apportunity to make different things."
"We got to do things we haven't done before."
"We got the chance to work with children from other schools."
All materials are provided. Pupils and staff will need to bring a packed lunch.
